Shearling & Fur-Lined Leather Jackets

Real shearling is sheepskin tanned with the wool left on, so the suede side faces out and the fleece faces in. Faux shearling, or an artificial fur lining, gives a similar look and much of the warmth by sewing a synthetic pile inside a leather shell. Most pieces in this collection are artificial-fur lined: the outer is real sheepskin, lambskin, cowhide or suede, and every product spec names its lining plainly.

Who it's for. If you're after a shearling jacket men can wear through a hard winter, or a warm leather coat for women, start here. The range runs from B3 and RAF-style bombers with belted fur collars to hooded flight jackets, long trench coats and a black suede coat, priced $299.99 to $799.99.

How to choose. A short bomber traps heat around the torso and neck; a trench or long coat covers the legs for windier cities. Compare more cuts in bomber jackets and aviator jackets, or add a fur-lined vest for layering. Our guide to shearling vs sheepskin vs faux fur explains each label, and caring for a shearling jacket covers snow and salt.
